Job summary

XLR8 EMS in California is seeking an experienced procurement specialist to purchase materials, supplies and services for manufacturing operations. You will evaluate bids, negotiate prices and terms, and maintain supplier data to ensure timely deliveries.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills and a working knowledge of inventory systems. This on-site position favors candidates near one of our locations and may require extended hours to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; BS degree preferred in a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on purchasing in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience buying raw materials, steel or metal fabrication is a plus.
• Strong negotiation and vendor communication skills required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word/Excel and data reporting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate vendor and lead-time data in the database.
• Prepare purchase orders and requisitions; analyze bids and costs.
• Negotiate prices, terms and MOQ with suppliers to secure best terms.
• Track purchases, monitor supplier performance and inventory.
• Support RFQs and price analyses to meet customer requirements.

Job description

Purpose

Purchases materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. Qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services. Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.

Responsibilities

• Follows up and maintains current and accurate database information, vendor lead times, open purchases, commitments and shortages
• Buys customer BOM’s in support of RFQ’s to detail out cost, lead-time, and MOQ’s
• Updates and maintains inventory maintenance within the software system
• Maintains data, prepares reports and analyzes information using available software in decision-making
• Ensures that company standard procedures are followed in connection with purchases of material and services
• Prepares and issues purchase orders and requisitions; secures price advantages of quantity buying; composes and edits bid quotations; analyzes bids received; prepares and monitors contracts, outlining performance standards, tolerances, warranties and maintenance requirements within the Purchasing Department
• Other various tasks as needed to support customer requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills,1 with the ability to interact professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Proven ability to negotiate favorable terms and manage projects effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong Excel skills for data analysis and reporting are preferred.
• Solid understanding of procurement principles, best practices and supply chain management.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to address issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Must be a U.S. Person per EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma; BS degree highly desired
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on purchasing experience - must be in a manufacturing setting
• Experience purchasing raw materials, steel, metal fab, or anything similar is a plus
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Knowledge of Inventory software, database software, Microsoft word processing software and Excel spreadsheet software as well as Outlook and Internet skills
• Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.

Physical Requirements

• May experience prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Ability to perform standard office tasks, including prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, as well as the ability to move within the company's facilities.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Work on multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment

• Stand or walk for short periods in order to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
• Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing

• Strong attention to detail and excellent visual acuity.
• Occasional lifting and carrying items up to 25 lbs.

• This is a fulltime on-site role that will be performed at one of our multiple locations

• Preference will be given to candidates who live near one of our sites.
• Availability to work extended hours as needed to meet business objectives and deadlines
