Job summary

Jobtailor in Elgin, TX is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing professional to manage purchase orders from initiation to receipt. You will monitor open orders, coordinate with vendors, and resolve backorders while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in purchasing or expediting, with experience in three-way matching and high-volume processing. On-site four days a week starting at 8:00 AM, in a heavy equipment/industrial environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of purchasing, buying, or expediting experience.
• Experience owning purchase orders and following them through to receipt.
• Working understanding of the three-way match: purchase order, item receipt, and bill.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly with quantities, partial deliveries, open purchase orders, and backorders.
• Ability to manage a high volume of requests and open orders.
• Willingness to pause and ask questions when information is incomplete.
• Judgment to determine whether questions belong with the Senior Buyer/Expeditor or the original requester.
• Self-starter who can assess request urgency and complete work without leaving loose ends.
• Ability to maintain productive vendor relationships.
• Available for an 8:00 AM start, four days per week in the Elgin office.
• Familiarity with generator, engine, electrical, or heavy equipment parts preferred.
• Experience in equipment rental, fleet, industrial, or construction environments preferred.
• Experience with Limble or another maintenance, inventory, or ERP system preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Place parts orders through established vendors and existing purchasing processes, primarily in Limble
• Track every purchase order from submission until complete receipt
• Monitor open purchase orders for partial shipments, short quantities, delivery status, and outstanding items
• Follow up directly with vendors on incomplete shipments and keep requesters informed
• Identify repeated or extended backorders and elevate them to the Senior Buyer/Expeditor with supporting history
• Clarify incomplete or unclear requests before ordering
• Track vendor and item lead times and surface recurring delays
• Support earlier ordering to reduce rush orders and stockouts
• Handle purchases outside Limble, including Uline, Amazon, and occasional credit card purchases for specialty tools and refurbishment parts
• Work with the Senior Buyer/Expeditor to determine when repeat demand warrants formal vendor setup
• Report to the Senior Buyer/Expeditor
