Job description

• Interview vendors and obtain competitive bids for major purchases
• Negotiate with vendors on price, quality, service, and delivery
• Award contracts
• Consult on quality control and product deficiency situations
• Expedite critical items and provide lead time advice
• Create purchase orders and expedite orders from procurement to payment
• Work with Engineering, R&D, other departments, and program managers to develop and source products
• Communicate with field operations and all levels of management
• Review continuous improvement, cost reduction, and strategic sourcing opportunities
• Support production, repair, and special projects through Purchase Requisitions and MRP settings
• Execute purchase orders (30%)
• Distribute RFQs/RFPs (20%)
• Expedite material, update, and communicate procurement status (25%)
• Participate in supplier development and cost reduction activities (15%)
• Reconcile payment errors (5%)
• Travel required: less than 5%

Requirements

• Familiar with computerized purchasing systems
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Manufacturing or Production buying experience desired
• Familiar with, or the ability to read blueprints/drawings
• SAP experience

• Proficient with Excel
• Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, or the equivalent in work experience
