Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Expeditor to support procurement, materials, and project teams by ensuring timely delivery of parts, equipment, materials, and services. This role will help track purchase orders, monitor supplier progress, resolve delivery issues, and communicate updates across internal teams to keep operations and projects moving efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track and monitor open purchase orders, supplier commitments, delivery dates, and material status.
  • Follow up with vendors and suppliers to confirm order acknowledgements, production timelines, shipping details, and delivery schedules.
  • Identify potential delays or supply issues and escape concerns to procurement, project, or operations leadership as needed.
  • Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, logistics, maintenance, and project teams to ensure critical materials arrive on time.
  • Maintain accurate records of order status, delivery updates, expediting notes, and supplier communications.
  • Assist with resolving discrepancies related to shipments, backorders, incomplete deliveries, or incorrect materials.
  • Support material planning and scheduling efforts by providing regular updates on priority items.
  • Help improve visibility into supplier performance, delivery risks, and material availability.
  • Participate in meetings with internal stakeholders to review urgent needs, critical orders, and upcoming deadlines.
  • Ensure all expediting activities align with company policies, safety expectations, and procurement procedures.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in expediting, procurement, purchasing, supply chain, logistics, materials coordination, or a related role.
  • Experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, mining, construction, energy, or heavy equipment environments is preferred.
  • Strong follow-up skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
  • Comfortable communicating with vendors, suppliers, internal departments, and project teams.
  • Ability to read and understand purchase orders, delivery schedules, material requirements, and basic procurement documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with ERP, procurement, or inventory systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and time-sensitive needs.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience expediting materials or equipment for maintenance, operations, capital projects, or construction teams.
  • Familiarity with industrial parts, electrical components, mechanical equipment, MRO materials, or plant/site support needs.
  • Experience working with domestic and international suppliers.
  • Understanding of freight, shipping, logistics, and basic inventory processes.
