Job summary

Staffmark Group is hiring a Buyer (Direct Hire) in Putnam, CT to purchase raw materials and manage supplier relationships for a manufacturing operation. The role requires 2–3 years of purchasing experience, ERP/MRP familiarity, and strong Excel skills.

Plastics industry exposure is a plus, with manufacturing experience preferred. The successful candidate will maintain purchase orders, monitor inventory, collaborate with internal teams, and identify cost-saving opportunities while ensuring timely

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Purchasing, or related field preferred.
• 2-3 years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related experience.
• Experience creating and managing purchase orders.
• ERP/MRP system experience preferred.
• SyteLine experience is a plus.
• Manufacturing experience preferred; plastics industry experience a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general business software.

Responsibilities

• Purchase raw materials, components, and supplies to support manufacturing operations.
• Create, maintain, and track purchase orders.
• Monitor inventory levels, material requirements, and delivery schedules.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, availability, and deliveries.
• Follow up on open orders and resolve shortages or delivery delays.
• Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, and purchasing records.
• Collaborate with production, planning, inventory, quality, and other internal departments.
• Assist with supplier sourcing and evaluation activities.
• Review pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure materials are available to support efficient production schedules.
• Utilize ERP/MRP systems for purchasing and material planning functions.

Schedule: 1st Shift | 6:50 AM - 3:00 PM
