Job summary

Staffmark Group is hiring a Production Planner and Buyer in Austin, TX, to support production schedules through effective purchasing and planning. The role requires ERP/MRP proficiency, vendor management, and strong analytical skills, with a focus on inventory optimization and cost control.

Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement to support production schedules.
  • Develop production plans using ERP/MRP to ensure on-time manufacturing.
  • Monitor inventory, warehouse ops, and demand forecasts.
  • Build supplier relationships and negotiate terms.
  • Communicate shortages and risks to stakeholders promptly.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve processes and cut costs.

Location: Austin, TX
Salary: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8 AM - 5 PM

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Associate degree with relevant manufacturing purchasing and planning experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of purchasing, procurement, and production planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using ERP systems for purchasing, inventory control, demand planning, and production scheduling; NetSuite experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with MRP systems, inventory management, warehouse operations, and logistics coordination.
  • Proven success managing supplier relationships, contract negotiations, delivery performance, and issue resolution.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and implementing lean manufacturing practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kanban systems, FIFO inventory practices, and supply chain optimization.
  • Strong analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across production, operations, purchasing, and leadership teams.
  • Self-motivated professional with strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while analyzing data and managing ERP systems.
  • Occasional walking throughout manufacturing and warehouse areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials, samples, or office supplies up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for supplier visits, audits, and vendor meetings.
Job Duties
  • Manage procurement activities, evaluate material requirements, and place purchase orders to support production schedules.
  • Develop production plans using ERP and MRP systems to ensure on-time manufacturing while maximizing inventory efficiency.
  • Monitor inventory levels, warehouse operations, material flow, and demand forecasts to support business objectives.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and delivery terms, and resolve supply chain issues.
  • Communicate material shortages, supplier performance concerns, and inventory risks to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve processes, reduce costs, optimize inventory, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
