Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a detail-oriented Buyer to join our Supply Chain team in Orlando, FL. You will source and purchase COTS and custom-manufactured components, manage supplier relationships, and drive procurement from sourcing through delivery.

The role requires 3+ years in purchasing or sourcing, proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, and the ability to read engineering drawings. This contract-to-hire position offers onsite work, with pay range $24.04–$36.06 per hour and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, operations, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, materials management, or sourcing.
• Experience procuring both standard commercial products and custom-manufactured components.
• Strong proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience working within an MRP-driven environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing documents, and technical requirements.
• Understanding of supplier manufacturing processes and capabilities.
• Strong negotiation, supplier management, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure COTS and custom-manufactured components, materials, and hardware.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, gaining a thorough understanding of supplier capabilities, capacity, lead times, quality standards, and manufacturing expertise.
• Evaluate and qualify suppliers to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and performance expectations are met.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation to determine procurement requirements.
• Solicit quotations, analyze supplier proposals, negotiate pricing and delivery schedules, and issue purchase orders.
• Ensure purchase orders accurately reflect specifications, revisions, quantities, quality requirements, and delivery expectations.
• Manage purchase orders from placement through receipt, ensuring on-time delivery and issue resolution.
• Monitor supplier performance and proactively communicate risks, delays, shortages, or other supply chain concerns to internal stakeholders.
• Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Operations teams to support business objectives.
• Manage return material authorizations (RMAs), supplier corrective actions, and product replacement activities through resolution.
• Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, and inventory records within ERP/MRP systems.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve supplier performance, shorten lead times, and mitigate supply chain risks.
• Track and report purchasing metrics and supplier performance indicators to leadership.
• Ensure compliance with procurement procedures, quality requirements, and company policies.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom-manufactured components that support business operations and production requirements.

The ideal candidate will build strong supplier partnerships, manage procurement activities from sourcing through delivery, and proactively resolve supply chain challenges. This position requires a combination of strategic sourcing expertise, supplier relationship management, technical aptitude, and strong organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure COTS and custom-manufactured components, materials, and hardware.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.04 - $36.06/hr.
