As a Buyer at Ryerson, you will be responsible for understanding supply chain concepts and maintaining MRP inputs at the item level. You will collaborate with the Supply Chain Director and other buyers to execute strategic supply chain buy plans aligned with Ryerson Corporation. Additionally, you will work with commercial teams on vendor alignment for customer transactional and contract opportunities, manage vendor relationships, and support vendor development.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Timely execution of MRP for internally sourced items, outside processed items, and external buys as necessary
• Replenishment, order maintenance, stock service level review including expediting as necessary
• Manage inventory for responsible items, re-deploy slow-moving items within the company
• Manage inventory investment to a budget and ensure available inventory supports sales
• Maintain material part numbers and vendor records
• Review and adjust MRP elements to meet changing demand, processing, and business needs
• Handle project work generated within and outside the procurement department
• Manage vendor relationships and performance in line with company goals
• Perform all other duties as assigned, with responsibilities and activities subject to change

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in business or manufacturing supply chain-related field
• Understanding of MRP or inventory control systems; experience in the metals industry is a plus
• Experience or knowledge of SAP software is a plus
• Ability to read and understand blueprints is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft tools including Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint
• Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills
• Excellent organizational skills to manage priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across all management levels and departments
