Job summary

Cheney Brothers is seeking a Butter Processing Operator to prepare, cut, mix, and extrude bulk butter in a cold environment while ensuring food safety and accurate recordkeeping. You will operate processing equipment, maintain sanitation, and support packing and batch documentation as part of a production team.

The role requires lifting up to 60 lbs, a high school diploma or equivalent, and 1–3 years of food processing equipment experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• Work schedule: Mon–Thu 7:30am–4:30pm, Fri 7:30am–2:00pm.
• 1–3 years using commercial food processing equipment & machinery.
• Physical: ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
• Willing to work in cold environment.
• Ability to perform basic math skills.
• Maintain professional, positive attitude and good work ethics.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bulk uncut butter by pulling from cooler and removing from cases to slack on tables.
• Process slacked butter into machine to mix and extrude butter.
• Learn and operate VeMag machine.
• Cut butter into required specifications for mixing and pressing processes per schedule.
• Provide and distribute cut butter to pressers for processing.
• Document and record each batch completion correctly.
• Meet minimum production requirements efficiently and accurately.
• Assist in butter pressing and packing as assigned per production needs.
• Perform cleaning and sanitation of processing facility and equipment.
• Adhere to SOPs, GMPs, HACCP, SQF, FDA guidelines and safety requirements.

Position Summary

The Butter Processing Operator prepares, cuts, mixes, and extrudes bulk butter while operating machinery and meeting production requirements in a cold environment. This role ensures food safety compliance, maintains accurate records, and supports sanitation and packing processes as needed.

• Adhere to all company SOPs, GMPs, HACCP, SQF, FDA guidelines & procedures, and work consistently with all food safety, quality and sanitation requirements
• Perform all other duties as assigned that are necessary, required or directed by management.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility and common areas.

Qualifications

• Willing to perform all tasks when and where assigned and as changing situations arise.
• Ability to understand to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to perform basic math skills
• Maintain professional, positive attitude and good work ethics.

Preferred qualifications

• 1 - 3 years previous experience using VeMag, Extruder or similar machine, preferred but not required.
• Preferably in food handling or food processing
• Familiarity or experience in HACCP/SQF
• HACCP Certified
