We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst with experience in payments, SQL, and data analysis to support payment platforms, integrations, and data-driven business solutions. This role will partner with business, product, technology, QA, operations, and vendor teams to translate business needs into clear system requirements and deliver effective solutions..

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Pittsburgh, PA/ Dallas, TX is $105k - $115k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role
Responsibilities:
  • Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
  • Create user stories, process flows, data mappings, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria.
  • Analyze payment and operational data using SQL to identify trends, exceptions, reconciliation issues, and defects.
  • Support payment processes including authorization, clearing, settlement, refunds, reversals, chargebacks, and reconciliation.
  • Define data requirements, validation rules, interface specifications, and reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with development and QA teams throughout the SDLC and Agile delivery process.
  • Develop test scenarios and support integration testing, regression testing, and UAT.
  • Investigate production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate resolutions.
  • Support API, file-based, and system integration initiatives.
  • Ensure solutions meet data quality, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  • Experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role.
  • Experience in payments, banking, financial services, or fintech.
  • Strong SQL skills, including joins, subqueries, aggregations, CTEs, and data validation.
  • Experience with relational databases, data analysis, and reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of payment systems, transaction lifecycles, and financial data.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, SDLC, requirements gathering, and UAT.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred, but not required:
  • Knowledge of ACH, card payments, wire transfers, RTP, or account-to-account payments.
  • Familiarity with ISO 8583, ISO 20022, payment gateways, processors, or banking platforms.
  • Experience with APIs, JSON, XML, batch files, and integration testing.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Postman, Visio, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Understanding of PCI DSS, AML, KYC, data privacy, or related financial-services controls.
