Job summary

Synechron is seeking a Senior Business Data Analyst in Charlotte, NC to develop and manage metadata repositories, ensuring accessible data definitions, sources, and lineage. You will harness SQL, PL/SQL, Hadoop, and Spark to support data-driven decision making and build dashboards in Tableau or Excel.

Collaborate with IT, compliance, and business units to define data requirements, deliver clear data insights, and produce documentation and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Experience as a Data Analyst in banking/financial services.
  • Strong data sourcing, controls and metadata management knowledge.
  • Proficiency in SQL with ability to write complex queries.
  • Experience with PL/SQL, Hadoop and Spark for data processing.
  • Familiarity with Tableau/Power BI and advanced Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

As a Senior Business Data Analyst, the candidate will be responsible to develop and manage metadata repositories, ensuring proper documentation and accessibility of data definitions, sources, and lineage.

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $100k - $110k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role
Responsibilities:
  • Identify, source, and integrate data from various internal and external systems to support business analysis and decision-making processes.
  • Establish and maintain data controls to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop and manage metadata repositories, ensuring proper documentation and accessibility of data definitions, sources, and lineage.
  • Utilize SQL to flatten multi-depth parent-child hierarchical data structures, preparing datasets for analysis and reporting.
  • Read and interpret PL/SQL, Hadoop, and Spark code to understand data processing workflows and contribute to data pipeline improvements.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reports to present findings and insights to stakeholders, using tools such as Excel and Tableau.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, compliance, and business units, to define data requirements and support strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare documentation and presentations to communicate data findings, methodologies, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst in the banking or financial services sector.
  • Strong understanding of data sourcing, controls, and metadata management principles.
  • Proficiency in SQL, with the ability to write complex queries for data extraction and transformation.
  • Experience with PL/SQL, Hadoop, and Spark for data processing and analysis.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and advanced Excel functionalities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of effectively conveying complex data insights to diverse audiences.
