Job summary

University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is seeking a Business Systems Analyst III to serve as the primary liaison between functional offices and the UW System PeopleSoft development team. You will ensure business needs are clearly understood, documented, and addressed to maintain the integrity of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions system.

Qualifications

  • Three+ years in a business/functional analyst role supporting enterprise administrative systems.
  • Experience gathering requirements and translating them into functional specs for technical teams.
  • Experience coordinating system testing including unit and system testing activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience troubleshooting enterprise application workflows or integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as liaison between UW-Oshkosh offices and PeopleSoft development team.
  • Maintain operational integrity of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions for student information.
  • Translate complex business needs into actionable documentation for developers.
  • Prepare staff for PeopleSoft updates and PUM releases.
  • Coordinate unit and system testing efforts and triage issues.
  • Provide escalation support before engaging the development team.
  • Guide staff in design, development, and implementation of BI reports.

Job Duties

The Business Analyst serves as the primary liaison betweenUW-Oshkosh functional offices and the UW System PeopleSoftdevelopment team, ensuring that institutional business needs areclearly understood, documented, and effectively addressed. Thisposition plays a critical role in maintaining the operationalintegrity of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions student informationsystem by combining knowledge of university business processes withthe technical communication skills necessary to bridge functionaland development teams.

The Business Analyst partners with staff in key functional areasincluding the Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, andAdmissions to support day-to-day PeopleSoft operations, coordinatesystem updates, and manage the lifecycle of development requests.The position requires a strong understanding of higher educationadministrative processes, experience with enterprise systems, andthe ability to translate complex business requirements into clear,actionable documentation for technical teams.

This role is responsible for preparing functional staff forPeopleSoft updates and PUM releases, troubleshooting issues relatedto system workflows and third-party integrations, authoring designdocuments for new development requests, and coordinating unit andsystem testing efforts. The Business Analyst also serves as a firstpoint of contact for functional users experiencing system issues,providing triage and escalation support before engaging thedevelopment team.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Develops and assesses opportunities for new unit staff trainingopportunities
  • Serves as a project lead for lower level IT staff providingguidance on specific project goals, outcomes, and technologicalcomponents
  • Provides advanced procedural and technical guidance to unitstaff regarding technology usage and management
  • Performs complex data analyses and reporting
  • Designs, develops, and implements complex data reporting andbusiness intelligence systems
  • Provides guidance to lower level staff in the design,development, and implementation of data reporting and businessintelligence systems
  • Makes recommendations in the selection of technology solutionsto align with business strategies
  • Provides direction for the mapping of business processes usingadvanced process-mapping methodologies
  • Serves as a subject matter expert to institutional and unitleadership on critical technology issues

Required Qualifications
  • Three or more years of experience in a business analyst orfunctional analyst role supporting enterprise administrativesystems in a complex organizational environment
  • Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting businessrequirements and translating them into functional specifications ordesign documents for technical teams
  • Experience supporting or coordinating system testing, includingunit and system testing activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with theability to communicate effectively with both technical andnon-technical audiences
  • Experience troubleshooting issues within enterprise applicationworkflows or system integrations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a higher education environment withstudent information or administrative ERP systems (PeopleSoftCampus Solutions, Banner, Workday Student, Ellucian, orsimilar)
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions in any functionalarea (Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Admissions, orsimilar)
  • Experience working with remote or shared-services developmentteams
  • Familiarity with system integration concepts and third-partyapplication connectivity
Education

Bachelor's Degree or 3+ years of experience in a relatedfield.
