Job Description : Business Systems Analyst, Enterprise API (eAPI) Team
Reports to : Technical Product Manager, eAPI Product Team
Role Overview : As a Business Systems Analyst on the eAPI Product Team, you'll bridge the gap between our business stakeholders and our engineering teams. You'll translate complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements for a suite of cloud-native services and APIs that integrate with our SAP S/4HANA backbone. Your insights will drive the design of scalable, secure, and reusable API patterns, empowering domain capabilities across the enterprise.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Requirements Gathering & Analysis
- Partner with business stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Finance, Supply Chain) to elicit, document, and validate functional and non-functional requirements.
- Conduct workshops and interviews to uncover edge cases, exceptions, and integration points.
Solution Design & Modeling- Create process flow diagrams, data models, and API sequence diagrams (e.g., using Visio, Lucidchart).
- Define domain-driven API boundaries and data contracts in collaboration with architecture.
Technical Documentation & Governance- Author and maintain clear, versioned documentation in Confluence and SharePoint (including user guides, developer guides, API references).
- Support data governance by defining data steward roles, data lineage, and data quality rules.
Agile Delivery & Collaboration- Translate requirements into well-formed user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog items in Jira.
- Act as liaison between Product, Architecture, and Development teams to ensure timely delivery.
Quality Assurance & Support- Validate that delivered services meet requirements through functional testing and SQL-based data validation.
- Assist domain teams with onboarding to the eAPI self-service portal and troubleshooting integration issues.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field
- 3+ years' experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst in an enterprise environment
- Strong expertise in cloud computing, especially AWS (e.g., EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM)
- Deep understanding of enterprise API concepts (REST), service orchestration, and microservices architecture
- Proficient in SQL; capable of writing queries for data profiling and validation
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Working knowledge of Atlassian tools: Confluence, Jira (including JQL), and SharePoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Preferred Qualifications :
- Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA modules, integration points, and best practices
- Certifications in SAP integration (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate) or API management (e.g., Apigee, MuleSoft)
- Experience designing and publishing APIs via API gateways or developer portals
- Knowledge of data modeling tools (ERwin, ER/Studio) and UML
- Understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK)
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, Groovy) or low-code platforms
- Exposure to domain-driven design (DDD) and event-driven architectures
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence at all levels
