Summary

We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst – Applications & Data to take ownership of business-critical applications, translate business needs into technical requirements, manage application roadmaps and backlogs, and support data analysis and business process improvement.

This role is approximately 40% application ownership, 30% business analysis, and 30% data analysis. The successful candidate will serve as the Product Owner for primary applications and a secondary owner for other applications, partnering closely with business stakeholders, IT, developers, third‑party vendors, and the data team.

Applications

The primary application is Paycor, with NetSuite and CaptivateIQ as secondary applications. The role will own application roadmaps, prioritize enhancements, gather requirements, coordinate UAT, and help determine what capabilities should be improved or introduced.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Application Support, or Application Management role.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting and owning ERP, Payroll, or HCM platforms.
  • Demonstrated application ownership experience, including:
  • Managing application roadmaps or backlogs.
  • Gathering and documenting requirements.
  • Working with developers and IT teams.
  • Managing User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Determining application improvements and new capabilities.
  • Strong ability to work with and understand business data.
  • Intermediate ability to extract, manipulate, reconcile, clean, link, and analyze data.
  • Ability to understand underlying data structures and translate data into meaningful business insights.
  • Strong business‑process analysis and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to translate business needs into product requirements.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, planning, and organizational skills.
Data & Technical Skills
  • Working knowledge of SQL and/or other methods of extracting and manipulating data.
  • Ability to use tools such as Excel functions, Power Query, or AI‑assisted scripting to obtain and analyze data.
  • Experience working with Snowflake, SQL Server, and/or Power BI is beneficial.
  • Complex SQL is a differentiator but not required; this is not an SQL developer or data‑engineering position.
  • Understanding of application integrations, data flows, and system‑to‑system processes.
  • Experience with Agile/product‑development processes and backlog management.
Business / Functional Experience
  • Experience with Payroll, HCM, ERP, financial, billing, invoicing, reporting, or related business processes.
  • Ability to understand concepts such as revenue, gross profit, expenses, and the sub‑ledgers that feed financials.
  • Experience with Paycor, NetSuite, CaptivateIQ, or similar business applications is highly valuable.
  • Staffing/payroll experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Own the roadmap, backlog, and ongoing improvement of assigned business applications.
  • Serve as Product Owner for primary applications and secondary application owner where applicable.
  • Define product/application vision based on business needs.
  • Prioritize enhancements and capabilities based on business value.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Partner with developers, IT, data teams, third‑party vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing and support production deployments.
  • Evaluate business processes and identify opportunities for optimization, automation, and modernization.
  • Analyze data to identify performance improvements and support business decisions.

  • Lead or partner on deployment and utilization of AI capabilities within owned products.
AI & Automation

AI experience is not a hard technical requirement, but the candidate should demonstrate genuine curiosity and a willingness to explore how AI can improve data manipulation, process efficiency, application capabilities, and business outcomes.

The Product Owner will be expected to explore AI capabilities and lead or partner on their deployment within owned applications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Paycor, NetSuite, or CaptivateIQ.
  • Payroll or staffing‑payroll experience.
