Job description

Overview

Business Process & Data Analyst - Contract. This is a one-year contract position providing backfill support for the Student Information System Enterprise System Renewal (SIS ESR) with high likelihood for a multiple year commitment. Work with Enrollment Management within the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor-Academic Affairs at UC San Diego. The worksite is Hybrid. Appointment Type is Contract and 100% effort.

Responsibilities
  • Lead development, implementation, maintenance and execution of financial aid and scholarships systems for the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.
  • Support critical business processes using third-party software such as Slate CRM and Microsoft Access, including CFP calculations for student aid offers, origination and processing of Alternative Loans, and SAP monitoring.
  • Apply project management skills to organize work of multiple staff; perform quality control analyses, testing, reporting, and related activities.
  • Document requirements using Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative descriptions; analyze processes and information flow to meet user needs and support data-driven decisions.
  • Communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders; train users on software tools, data transfer, and related systems.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to ensure accurate, timely delivery of financial aid and related services.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent education/experience/training.
  • Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions; demonstrated knowledge of financial aid business processes.
  • Strong understanding of IT concepts and automated data processing, including familiarity with data interfaces, storage, transport and backup capabilities.
  • Experience with process and systems requirement documentation standards (e.g., Use Case, User Story) and basic testing/QA for system enhancements.
  • Ability to analyze data, design new business processes using third-party software, and generate analytical reports.
  • Proven project leadership and collaboration skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, training, and interpersonal skills; able to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of student information systems and related financial systems; experience with SQL and Microsoft Access is preferred.
  • Experience with scheduling, beta testing, and quality assurance for complex financial aid processes.
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends during peak periods and some domestic travel may be required.

  • Duties may involve direct contact with children. Completion of the CANRA form may be required.
  • Background check clearance is required; job offer contingent upon satisfactory results.

Pay and Employment Details

Base pay range: $37.93/hr - $68.68/hr. Hiring Pay Scale: $75,000 - $76,000 per year. Worksite: Hybrid. Appointment Type: Contract. Appointment Percent: 100%. Total Openings: 1. Extended Deadline: Friday, 9/19/2025. Initial application review: 9/2/2025. This is a 100% Contract position for 1 year with the possibility of extension or conversion to career status.

Pay Transparency: Annual Full Pay Range $79,200 - $143,400 (prorated if appointment percentage < 100%). Hourly equivalent: $37.93 - $68.68. The posted pay range may be broader based on internal equity, budget and collective bargaining agreements where applicable.
