Job summary

Lonza is seeking a Business Process Architect – EHS to lead SAP S/4HANA EHS and Product Compliance initiatives across a global network. The role partners with business and IT teams to drive implementation, standardization, and continuous improvement of EHS-enabled processes.

The position requires 8+ years in EHS/ Product Compliance, SAP S/4HANA experience, and strong stakeholder skills. Hybrid work options and up to 20% travel are offered, with a focus on global governance and training delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in EHS and/or Product Compliance within pharma, biotech, life sciences or regulated manufacturing
• Proven experience implementing and optimizing EHS processes in SAP environments, including SAP S/4HANA
• Hands-on experience supporting full lifecycle SAP implementations, from design and configuration through deployment and post-go-live support
• Strong knowledge of EHS and Product Compliance business processes
• Professional EHS certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, or similar) are a plus
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally

Responsibilities

• Support the global deployment of SAP S/4HANA EHS and Product Compliance solutions across multiple waves
• Serve as the business process expert for Incident Management, Action & Task Management, Inspection & Audit Management, Risk Assessment, and Global Label Management (GLM)
• Collaborate with global EHS, Product Compliance, IT, and program stakeholders to align requirements with SAP S/4HANA capabilities
• Act as the liaison between corporate program teams and site-level stakeholders for standardized processes
• Evaluate local processes, identify gaps, and align with global templates and best practices
• Lead process design, harmonization, and continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and compliance
• Develop and deliver training, documentation, and change management materials
• Participate in system testing, validation, defect resolution, and go-live readiness
• Provide guidance on EHS regulatory and compliance within SAP-enabled processes
• Support long-term governance of EHS and Product Compliance solutions post-implementation

Location: This is a hybrid role, with the preferred candidate located near one of Lonza’s key U.S. sites in Houston, TX; Walkersville, MD; or Portsmouth, NH. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid capacity from one of these locations and should be willing to travel up to 20% as business needs require.

What will you do :

As part of Lonza’s global SAP S/4HANA transformation program, the Business Process Architect – EHS will play a critical role in advancing and harmonizing Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Product Compliance processes across our global network. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will partner with business and technology teams to drive the successful implementation and continuous improvement of SAP S/4HANA EHS capabilities.

• Support the global deployment of SAP S/4HANA EHS and Product Compliance solutions across multiple implementation waves.

What we are looking for :

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in EHS and/or Product Compliance within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing industries.
• Proven experience implementing and optimizing EHS processes in SAP environments, including SAP S/4HANA.
• Hands‑on experience supporting full lifecycle SAP implementations, from design and configuration through deployment and post‑go‑live support.
• Strong knowledge of EHS and Product Compliance business processes.
• Experience with Global Label Management (GLM) required; experience with Environment Management and Sustainability Control Tower is strongly preferred.
• Professional EHS certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, or similar) are a plus.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across global, cross‑functional, and multicultural teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
