Job summary

Lonza Biologics, Inc. seeks a Business Process Architect – EHS to drive harmonized EHS and Product Compliance processes within SAP S/4HANA. This hybrid role supports global deployment and acts as a process expert across multiple sites, including the U.S.

You will collaborate with EHS, Product Compliance, IT and program teams, lead process improvements, and develop training to ensure adoption and regulatory alignment across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in EHS, Chemistry, Biology, Pharma, Eng or related field.
• Minimum 8 years in EHS and/or Product Compliance in pharma/biotech.
• Experience implementing SAP S/4HANA EHS and product compliance.
• Experience with GLM; cross-functional collaboration across sites.

Responsibilities

• Support global deployment of SAP S/4HANA EHS and Product Compliance across waves.
• Serve as the business process expert for Incident, Action, Task, Audit, and Risk.
• Collaborate with global EHS, Product Compliance, IT and program teams.
• Liaise between corporate programs and site stakeholders for standardized processes.
• Evaluate local processes, identify gaps, align with global templates.
• Lead design, harmonization and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop training, documentation, and change-management materials.
• Participate in system testing, validation, and go-live readiness.
• Provide guidance on EHS regulatory requirements within SAP processes.
• Support sustainability and governance post-implementation.

Business Process Architect – EHS

Location:

This is a hybrid role, with the preferred candidate located near one of Lonza’s key U.S. sites in Houston, TX; Walkersville, MD; or Portsmouth, NH. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid capacity from one of these locations and should be willing to travel up to 20% as business needs require.

What will you do:

As part of Lonza's global SAP S/4HANA transformation program, the Business Process Architect – EHS will play a critical role in advancing and harmonizing Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Product Compliance processes across our global network. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will partner with business and technology teams to drive the successful implementation and continuous improvement of SAP S/4HANA EHS capabilities.

• Support the global deployment of SAP S/4HANA EHS and Product Compliance solutions across multiple implementation waves.
• Serve as the business process expert for Incident Management, Action & Task Management, Inspection & Audit Management, Risk Assessment, and Global Label Management (GLM).
• Collaborate with global EHS, Product Compliance, IT, and program stakeholders to align business requirements with SAP S/4HANA capabilities.
• Act as the liaison between corporate program teams and site-level stakeholders to ensure successful adoption of standardized processes.
• Evaluate local business processes, identify gaps, and drive alignment with global templates and best practices.
• Lead process design, harmonization, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
• Develop and deliver training, documentation, and change management materials to support user adoption.
• Participate in system testing, validation, defect resolution, and go-live readiness activities.
• Provide expert guidance on EHS regulatory and compliance requirements within SAP-enabled business processes.
• Support long-term sustainability and governance of EHS and Product Compliance solutions post-implementation.

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in EHS and/or Product Compliance within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing industries.
• Proven experience implementing and optimizing EHS processes in SAP environments, including SAP S/4HANA.
• Hands-on experience supporting full lifecycle SAP implementations, from design and configuration through deployment and post-go-live support.
• Strong knowledge of EHS and Product Compliance business processes.
• Experience with Global Label Management (GLM) required; experience with Environment Management and Sustainability Control Tower is strongly preferred.
• Professional EHS certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, or similar) are a plus.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional, and multicultural teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
