Job summary

UW Health seeks a Business Operations Analyst for Ambulatory Services to support strategic growth and performance. The role blends analytics, budgeting, and data-driven decision support across ambulatory care with a regular hybrid schedule requiring onsite work in Madison, WI.

You will build models, run ROI analyses, and develop dashboards for leadership, while coordinating clinical expansions and technology rollouts. A strong analytical mindset and project experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; four years of relevant experience may substitute.
  • MBA or healthcare informatics degree preferred.
  • Experience in forecasting, budgeting, and ROI modeling is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Support ambulatory services initiatives using project management methods.
  • Build financial models, ROI analyses, and pro formas for new clinics.
  • Assist budgeting, forecasting, and workforce planning activities.
  • Extract and analyze data from Epic and databases for decisions.
  • Develop executive dashboards and leadership-ready reports.
  • Coordinate cross-functional implementations and readiness activities.

Business Operations Analyst - Ambulatory Services

At UW Health, innovative thinking and operational excellence helps us deliver remarkable care every day. We are seeking a highly organized, analytical, and collaborative Business Operations Analyst to support strategic growth and operational performance across Ambulatory Services.

What You'll Do
  • Support complex operational and strategic initiatives across ambulatory services using Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
  • Build financial models, business cases, ROI analyses, and pro formas to evaluate new clinics, service line expansions, and capital investments.
  • Support operational budgeting, volume forecasting, workforce planning, and supply cost analysis.
  • Extract, analyze, and interpret data from Epic, databases, and other enterprise systems to support informed decision-making.
  • Develop executive-level dashboards, reports, and polished PowerPoint presentations for leadership audiences.
  • Coordinate cross-functional implementation efforts, including clinical expansions, system deployments, operational readiness activities, and technology rollouts.
  • Monitor project performance, track outcomes, and identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.

  • Advanced analytical and technical skills, including SQL, Epic reporting, Qlik, and advanced Excel.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, information systems, or another relevant field. Four years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree in addition to the experience listed below Required
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Informatics, or other relevant field Preferred
Work Experience
  • 3 years of experience in healthcare, accounting, business administration, finance, analytics, project leadership or related experience Required
  • Prior experience in healthcare analysis Preferred
  • Prior experience in analysis, strategic planning, and decision support Preferred
  • Prior experience in an academic healthcare environment Preferred
  • Prior experience in writing SQL or similar languages Preferred
