Job description

Job Title: Business Office Manager

Responsibilities:

  1. Obtain managed care and Medi-Cal or Medicaid authorizations, including bedholds.
  2. Assist with managing resident trust funds, including printing and distributing monthly statements.
  3. Supervise business office staff and enforce disciplinary measures as needed.
  4. Maintain census and report status changes.
  5. Attend stand-up meetings upon request of the Administrator.
  6. Assist with Medi-Cal or Medicaid applications and prepare TARS as needed.
  7. Track Medi-Cal and Medicaid redeterminations.
  8. Participate in billing and payment processes, including preparing bank deposits and undertaking collection activities for bad debts.
  9. Schedule and assign employees to complete operational requirements and follow up on work results.

Supervisory Requirements: Assist with the overall supervision and management of the business office staff.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of skilled nursing billing and payment; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Preferably, one year of experience in a long-term care facility.

Skills:

  • Ability to read technical procedures and policy manuals.
  • Effective communication skills to present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Mathematical skills to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.

Preferred Knowledge: Experience with PCC is preferred.

Physical Demands: Prolonged computer use, frequent standing/walking, occasional sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, and other physical activities as described.

Work Environment: Usually low to moderate noise level, accommodations available for disabilities.
