Overview

A highly regarded North Carolina law firm is seeking a Business Litigation Associate to join its growing litigation practice in Charlotte. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney to work on sophisticated business disputes and complex commercial litigation matters while receiving hands-on responsibility and mentorship from experienced litigators.

The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of litigation experience and a strong interest in handling complex business disputes from inception through resolution. The firm represents corporations, financial institutions, businesses, and other commercial clients in a wide variety of litigation matters throughout North Carolina and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent clients in complex business and commercial litigation matters pending in state and federal courts.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, discovery responses, and other litigation-related documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda regarding substantive and procedural legal issues.
• Manage all phases of written discovery, including document review and production.
• Participate in and assist with depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
• Assist with case strategy, risk assessment, and litigation planning.
• Work directly with partners and clients on ongoing litigation matters.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and third-party witnesses.
• Assist with trial preparation, witness preparation, exhibit organization, and pretrial filings.
• Manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the North Carolina Bar.
• 2-4 years of business litigation, commercial litigation, or complex civil litigation experience.
• Experience drafting motions, briefs, discovery requests, and legal memoranda.
• Experience handling discovery and participating in depositions.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines independently.
• Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong academic credentials required.
