Job summary

Buchanan is seeking a Litigation Associate in Charlotte to handle complex commercial litigation and regulatory matters within a premier litigation team. The role offers exposure to high-stakes cases and collaboration with partners and senior lawyers across sophisticated matters.

The successful candidate will conduct in-depth research, draft motions and pleadings, manage discovery, and help shape case strategy.

We are working with a leading law firm looking for a Litigation Associate to join its Charlotte office.

The firm is looking for candidates with experience in complex commercial litigation and regulatory matters. The role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated cases for major clients as part of a well-regarded litigation team.

The role

The successful candidate will work on a range of commercial disputes and regulatory matters. Responsibilities will include:

• Conducting legal research and analysis
• Drafting motions, briefs, pleadings and other court documents
• Managing discovery, including document review and depositions
• Supporting regulatory investigations and enforcement matters
• Helping to develop case strategy
• Preparing for hearings, arbitrations and trials
• Working directly with partners, senior lawyers and clients
• Managing deadlines across multiple matters

Candidate requirements

Candidates should have:

• A 2022 or 2024 JD class year
• Experience in complex commercial litigation
• Experience in regulatory matters
• Strong legal research, drafting and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• The ability to manage several matters and competing deadlines
• Strong academic credentials
• Experience gained at a recognised law firm
• Admission to the North Carolina Bar or eligibility to waive in

Salary and benefits

Base salary is $235k–$310k, depending on class year, experience and other relevant factors. The wider package may include a performance-related bonus and a comprehensive benefits programme.
