SMARDT is the leading manufacturer of oil-free designed centrifuges with operations worldwide. We are now expanding our Montreal headquarters and have many ongoing opportunities!

We are looking for a Vertical Market Director (Pharma) to join our team!

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Planning & Business Development:
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to grow the Pharma vertical markets segment.
    • Identify emerging trends, market opportunities, and risks both internally and externally to the Smardt Pharma business.
    • Set sales targets and create actionable plans to achieve the annual secured sales plan.
    • Establish the Smardt Pharma brand of how Smardt delivers business to the market.
    • Identify and attend the appropriate industry trade events, market the Smardt brand to the pharmaceutical industry.
  2. Customer Relationship Management:
    • Build and nurture strong relationships with key clients in the Pharma industry.
    • Work with key Smardt Sales Reps to develop go-to-market plans, strategies, and execute to drive total market growth.
    • Establish an Account Management culture within Smardt, including account plans, internal meetings, and external quarterly reviews.
    • Create a structure in the Pharma teams to deliver top-tier sales and service.
    • Manage key customer relationships proactively and seek new business opportunities.
    • Conduct regular meetings and presentations on new products, technologies, and solutions.
  3. Solution Development:
    • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to design solutions meeting customer requirements.
    • Stay informed about technological advancements relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
    • Advocate for customer needs within Smardt to influence product development.
  4. Sales Leadership:
    • Determine team needs for hiring and development to support Pharma business.
    • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
    • Develop industry knowledge and sales skills programs.
    • Coordinate with Service to ensure customer support excellence.
    • Forecast bookings and report to leadership.
  5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work with marketing on campaigns and materials.
    • Partner with service for installation and after-sales support.
    • Coordinate with supply chain and operations for delivery.
    • Manage key customer aspects with the global organization.
  6. Market Analysis & Reporting:
    • Conduct industry and competitor research.
    • Analyze sales data and report performance metrics.
    • Use insights to refine strategies.
  7. Budgeting & Financial Management:
    • Manage sales and marketing budgets.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities.
    • Work with Finance on P&L management.
  8. Compliance & Ethics:
    • Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
    • Promote integrity and accountability.
    • Stay updated on relevant industry-specific compliance requirements.
  9. Networking & Representation:
    • Represent the company at industry events.
    • Build a professional network.
    • Engage with industry associations and thought leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years in sales/business development in HVAC, chiller, or related fields.
  • Proven success in pharmaceutical or vertical markets.
  • Strong technical understanding of chiller systems for pharma.
  • Leadership experience managing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to engage with C-level executives.
  • Proficiency in CRM, analytics tools, and MS Office.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
