Honest Game is looking for a driven, mission-aligned Business Development Manager to help us grow our impact in the education space. The ideal candidate is a go-getter with a sales mindset who is passionate about improving educational outcomes and excited to travel, learn, and grow with our team.

As a Business Development Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of our growth engine - generating leads, qualifying prospects, and helping build the pipeline that drives our sales strategy and student impact. You’ll collaborate closely with our sales, marketing, and operations teams to uncover opportunities, improve outreach strategies, and amplify Honest Game’s ability to support schools nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

Daily

  • Proactively conduct outbound cold calls, emails, and social touches to generate new leads and book qualified meetings.
  • Follow up on inbound leads to move them through the funnel.
  • Research school-based decision-makers (e.g., Athletic Directors, Counselors, School Administrators).
  • Leverage the NCAA Eligibility Portal to identify potential school needs.
  • Maintain and update daily tasks in CRM (HubSpot), ensuring all contact and outreach data is current.
  • Continually refine outbound messaging to improve engagement and conversion.

Weekly / As Needed

  • Track and evaluate performance metrics (e.g., calls per meeting, conversion rates).
  • Collaborate with marketing on campaign follow-up strategies and outreach content.
  • Partner with operations to co-develop email sequences and outreach plans.
  • Share weekly insights and customer feedback with Sales, Ops, and Marketing to inform strategy.
  • Keep CRM up to date with school personas, call notes, and lead status.
  • Engage with prospects on LinkedIn, Twitter, and other platforms as needed.
  • Continuous learning, participates in sales training, and self-improvement.
  • Represent Honest Game at conferences and events across the country.

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll collaborate daily with Sales and Operations and work cross-functionally with the Academic & Compliance, and Marketing teams. You’ll be supported by a collaborative, mission-driven team that’s passionate about helping students succeed.

Authority Level

This role carries the authority to communicate directly with prospective customers and represent Honest Game with professionalism and purpose.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Proven experience in business development or relationship-driven sales, ideally within the K–12 education space or a school-based environment
  • Deep passion for educational equity and expanding access to post-secondary opportunities.
  • Background in coaching and/or experience with high school or college athletics

Skills & Mindset:

  • A strong communicator, both written and verbal, with a personable, consultative approach
  • Naturally curious, eager to learn, and excited about building something that matters
  • Able to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter who can work independently while contributing to a team.
  • Strong process management and adaptability
  • High integrity and commitment to the mission of Honest Game

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with CRM tools (preferably HubSpot)
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Sheets, Docs)
  • Willingness/excitement to travel for conferences and events. Travel is expected once per quarter on average
  • Customer service or client-facing experience is a plus

Hours and Location:

  • Position is full-time and remote
  • Candidate must live in Illinois
  • Health insurance (medical, dental, and vision)

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 commensurate with experience
  • On-Target Earnings (OTE): $100,000+ including performance-based commission
  • Commission structure is tied to clear, measurable goals
