Job summary

Wegner CPAs is seeking a Business Development Manager in Verona, WI to drive growth with manufacturers through trusted advisory and long-term relationship selling. You’ll tour production facilities, understand operations, and lead automation assessments to map pragmatic solutions with our engineering team.

You’ll spend 30–50% of your time traveling to customer sites and industry events, building a portfolio of ongoing relationships while guiding opportunities from discovery through to signed

Wegner CPAs is proud to partner with our client in Verona, WI on their search for a Business Development Manager!

Are you energized by helping manufacturers solve complex challenges? Do you enjoy being in the field, walking production floors, and building long-term relationships instead of making cold calls?

What You'll Do

You’ll become the trusted advisor for manufacturers looking to improve productivity, quality, capacity, and automation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build relationships with qualified manufacturing prospects
  • Visit customer facilities to understand their operations and challenges
  • Lead discovery meetings and automation assessments
  • Educate clients on automation strategies and project planning
  • Attend 3-8 trade shows annually
  • Manage opportunities through HubSpot CRMQualify prospects and guide the right opportunities to our engineering team
  • Close paid scoping engagements and automation projects
  • Develop a portfolio of long-term customer relationships

Expect to spend 30–50% of your time traveling to customer sites and industry events.

What Success Looks Like

Our sales cycle ranges from six months to several years, so success isn't measured by monthly quotas. Instead, you'll be successful by:

  • Building trusted relationships with manufacturers
  • Conducting meaningful discovery conversations
  • Becoming the first call when customers are ready for their next automation project
  • Natural curiosity and excellent listening skills
  • Confidence asking for the business and moving opportunities forward
  • Ability to travel 30–50%
What We're Looking For

We’re open to candidates with either an engineering or business background, as long as you have a genuine understanding of manufacturing.

Required Qualifications
  • Manufacturing experience is essential.
  • 5+ years working in or around manufacturing.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical sales or business development experience
  • Experience selling automation, industrial equipment, or engineered solutions
  • Familiarity with robotics, automation systems, or industrial controls
  • Engineering degree or business degree with significant manufacturing experience
  • Experience using HubSpot or another CRM platform
