  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, validation, change management, IATF 16949.
  • Ability to translate customer needs into product and sales opportunities.
  • Strong financial, commercial, and negotiation skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related technical discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business-development plan aligned with regional and long‑term growth objectives.
  • Lead business development within Transportation/Automotive as the primary vertical focus with Tier 1 and 2 customers.
  • Identify and develop strategic opportunities across target markets including Industrial & Automation, Energy & Power, Data & Communications, IoT, Medical.
  • Build a structured territory plan identifying target customers, key stakeholders, applications, opportunities, competitive position, and account‑development actions.
  • Deliver year‑over‑year growth through new customer acquisition, design wins, and expansion of existing strategic accounts.
  • Establish relationships and execute demand creation initiatives targeting design engineers, program management, supply chain, and product development teams within strategic accounts.
  • Identify new platforms, applications, programs, and customer requirements where Adam Tech product solutions can be designed in
  • Develop opportunities from initial concept and qualification through sourcing decision, production award, and revenue realization.
  • For key programs, maintain visibility to key program milestones including qualification, PPAP, sourcing award, SOP, and production ramp.
  • Identify competitive incumbents, barriers to entry, and actions required to position Adam Tech for new program awards.
  • Work with territory manufacturer representatives and franchised distribution networks to support key target customers and cultivated projects.
  • Partner with the Sales, Product Management, and Engineering teams to align market requirements with evolving solution offerings.
  • Contribute to regional marketing initiatives, trade events, and exhibitions to elevate market presence across the Americas.
  • Provide strategic feedback to corporate leadership on market trends, customer requirements, and competitor movements.

Reports To: Director of Business Development, Americas

Position Summary

Adam Tech is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager (BDM) responsible for driving new business creation and long‑term strategic market growth with key customers within the Midwest region of the United States. The position will have a primary focus on Transportation and Automotive, including development of targeted Tier 1 and Tier 2 customers, while also pursuing strategic opportunities in other key Adam Tech markets including industrial automation, energy and power, data communications, IoT, medical, and related technology sectors.

The BDM will be responsible for identifying, developing, and converting strategic target accounts through direct engagement with engineering, product development, sourcing, purchasing, and program‑management organizations. The role will focus on early‑stage design‑in activity, new application development, qualified pipeline growth, and conversion of opportunities into sustainable production revenue.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience selling electronic components, interconnect products, or related technologies into complex OEM and Tier supplier environments, with demonstrated success developing new accounts, navigating long sales and qualification cycles, and building relationships across both technical and commercial organizations.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Market Expansion
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business‑development plan aligned with Adam Tech's regional and long‑term growth objectives.
  • Lead business development within Transportation / Automotive as the primary vertical focus, with emphasis on targeted Tier 1 and Tier 2 customers.
  • Identify and develop additional strategic opportunities across Adam Tech's target markets, including Industrial & Automation, Energy & Power, Data & Communications, IoT, Medical, and other emerging applications.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 10+ years of business development or technical sales experience within electronics, interconnect, electromechanical, industrial technology, or related markets.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience selling into Transportation / Automotive customers strongly preferred, including exposure to Tier 1 and/or Tier 2 customers.
  • Proven success developing new territories, strategic accounts, and qualified pipeline across complex OEM customer environments.
  • Understanding of OEM design cycles, component qualification, sourcing processes, distributor ecosystems and production program development.
  • Working knowledge of automotive‑specific requirements such as APQP, PPAP, validation, change management, and IATF 16949 environments is highly desirable
  • Ability to translate customer technical needs into viable product and sales opportunities.
  • Strong financial, commercial, and negotiation skills for solution‑based selling.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related technical discipline.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms (e.g., Pipedrive) and business analytics tools.
  • Experience working with manufacturer representatives and distribution channels
