Our client is an established product development and manufacturing partner supporting regulated healthcare and life sciences companies. The organization helps customers move programs from early product concepts through development, industrialization, and commercial-scale manufacturing. Capabilities include engineering and product development, tooling, precision plastics processing, assembly, packaging, and related program and supply-chain support.
As the commercial organization expands, the company is adding Business Development talent to grow strategic territories in key U.S. markets. This position is designed for a sales professional who can open new accounts, develop technically complex opportunities, and expand relationships once programs are established.
Develop new customer relationships across medical device, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, and broader life sciences markets.
Create and execute a territory plan focused on both net-new revenue and expansion within existing strategic accounts.
Identify and qualify opportunities that fit the organization’s engineering, development, and manufacturing capabilities.
Build relationships with technical, operational, sourcing, and executive stakeholders throughout customer organizations.
Guide opportunities through the commercial cycle, including discovery, qualification, proposal development, pricing discussions, and negotiation.
Look for opportunities to broaden customer relationships across product development, tooling, plastics manufacturing, assembly, kitting, packaging, and related services.
Maintain an active pipeline and provide reliable forecasting and visibility into territory performance.
Prioritize opportunities based on revenue potential, strategic fit, growth potential, technical alignment, and likelihood of conversion.
Pursue both production programs and earlier-stage engineering or development engagements that can lead to long-term manufacturing relationships.
Coordinate with engineering, estimating, operations, finance, program management, and other internal resources to develop commercially sound proposals.
Present solutions and proposals to customers and manage commercial discussions through award.
Support customer agreements and other commercial documentation associated with new and expanding programs.
Success in this role requires strong collaboration with technical and operational teams. The Business Development Manager will remain the commercial lead while bringing in the appropriate subject‑matter experts during technical discovery, development, launch, and ongoing program support.
Partner closely with product development, engineering, program management, manufacturing, operations, customer service, and supply‑chain teams.
Stay engaged during development and launch while maintaining a strong focus on creating the next opportunity.
Lead strategic customer discussions and coordinate internal participation for business reviews and account‑planning conversations.
Approximately 2–5 years of business development, technical sales, or account management experience within manufacturing, product development, contract manufacturing, or a similar environment.
Customer‑facing experience in medical device, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, or life sciences markets is strongly preferred.
Track record of winning new business while also developing and expanding strategic customer relationships.
Experience selling technical services and/or manufacturing solutions rather than a purely transactional product offering.
Hands‑on exposure to plastics conversion or component manufacturing technologies—particularly injection molding, blow molding, or related processes—is highly desirable.
Comfort navigating longer, multi‑stakeholder sales cycles common in regulated industries.
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, life sciences, or a related discipline.
Strong prospecting, consultative selling, negotiation, and relationship‑management skills.
Ability to understand technical customer needs and translate them into commercially viable opportunities.
Strong judgment around opportunity qualification and resource prioritization.
Effective communicator who works well across commercial, technical, and operational functions.
Disciplined CRM, pipeline, forecasting, and territory‑management habits.
New customer wins and qualified opportunity creation
Territory revenue growth
Expansion within strategic accounts
Pipeline quality, progression, and conversion
Depth of customer relationships and account penetration
The position is territory-based, with preference for candidates located near major life sciences and medical technology markets in the Northeast or Northern California. Travel within the assigned region and to customer locations is expected.
