Description

Verily exists to bring the promise of precision health to everyone everyday, and our breadth of solutions of care, research, health financing, and population health monitoring serve customers across various market segments.

Verily Life Sciences is seeking a Business Development Lead to build on Verily’s strategic partnerships and initiatives, with a focus on the payer/payvider segments. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, you will join the team responsible for sourcing and interacting directly with prospective partners/collaborators, helping them partner with Verily on innovative healthcare technologies.

You will work cross functionally within each Verily Commercial Team and with various teams and colleagues across Verily. This role will require you to be flexible and nimble and aggressively grow the payer/payvider business to help establish Verily as the premier solution.

Responsibilities
  • Join a team of Business Development Leads charged with identifying, negotiating and closing critical external partnerships/collaborations, working across Verily’s lines of business and consistent with the business development strategy and objectives; gain key internal stakeholder and senior leadership support; and collaborate with Verily’s cross-functional teams to drive growth.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the different lines of business, particularly our Platform, Data, and AI products and capabilities, and emerging products across Verily. Use key partnership learnings to help inform areas for investment. Manage how the market perceives the company and how new partners/collaborators are perceived within Verily.

  • Develop, manage and own a robust prospect pipeline, KPIs and outcomes. Communicate well and partner effectively with other Business Development Leads and the broader Commercial team on opportunities and obstacles.

  • Work closely with finance, legal, product, engineering, marketing, and science teams across a range of transaction types, including collaborations, joint ventures and multi-party agreements. Evaluate opportunities, conduct due diligence, negotiate agreement terms and present recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Work with Commercial leadership to define strategic requirements for partnership opportunities, determine appropriateness and operational fit with existing strategy; develop, nurture and manage partnership pipeline.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

  • MBA and/or other advanced degree and 10+ years of experience working in a business development or strategic partnerships role with specific experience selling innovative “0 to 1” healthcare technology solutions.

  • Deal sheet with a proven record of strategic and revenue generating partnerships and collaborations, demonstrating a track record of managing and closing transactions.

  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously lead multiple deals and complex deal structures with strong strategic and analytical skill and ability to drive exploration into new and emerging areas.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead from deal inception to successful long-term partnership using creative problem solving skills and executive-level engagement.

  • Comfort with ambiguity, with a desire to help cross-functional teams achieve clarity and alignment, and a proven track record of working with cross-functional teams to achieve company objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in regulated environments and in managing and structuring partnerships and long-term alliances in payer/payvider and related verticals.

  • Familiarity in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, startup-like environment.

  • Experience leading complex operational and strategic initiatives across various geographies.

  • Experience presenting and delivering succinct messages to external audiences.
