Job summary

Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Team Leader, Business Continuity to guide the strategy, planning, testing, and execution of enterprise continuity programs that keep services running for members, providers, and partners.

The ideal candidate brings a blend of BC expertise, leadership capability, and strong technical/operational acumen to map dependencies and build resilience across interlinked systems and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 4+ years administering business continuity programs with workforce/workplace resiliency focus and risk management experience.
• Strong business knowledge and data analysis to develop recommendations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
• Leadership experience coaching and guiding teams through change.
• Ability to manage large, complex projects on time and budget.
• Must be available 24/7 for security/emergency responses and travel 10–20%.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and day-to-day management of financial and human resources for the department.
• Ensure company policies and programs are executed within guidelines to reduce workforce risks.
• Serve as SME for business continuity functions, including Fusion and Everbridge, and related plans.
• Collaborate with Privacy and Compliance Offices to support BC policies.
• Develop BC solutions meeting business, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate BC plans with I/S and Risk Management for standardization.
• Ensure annual BC functions and BIAs are completed by deadlines; maintain plans.
• Develop and conduct BC/Crisis exercises to test plans at Enterprise level.
• Train and mentor BC Plan Owners and coordinators; create training modules.
• Lead Enterprise BC and Crisis Management teams across departments and locations.
• Ensure BC plans are tested annually or when significant changes occur.
• Other duties as assigned.
