Job summary

Crane Worldwide Logistics in Houston, TX seeks a Technical Support Specialist for WMS and related systems. You will serve as the primary technical resource, ensuring system integrity and supporting troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of software applications.

You will collaborate with Operations to review issues, implement changes, and pursue process improvements, including reporting and analytics. A Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience are required.

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 2 years related experience.
  • Minimum 1 year industry experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical ability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable of warehouse operations and logistics optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary technical support for applications, such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Is expert on WMS logic and functionality.
  • Ensures system integrity, including setup and control processes.
  • Supports troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of existing software applications.
  • Interfaces with Operations staff and provides regular communication on issues, processes, and requirements.
  • Coordinates with departments to resolve site technical issues impacting application use.
  • Investigates and recommends new technologies and information systems.
  • Designs, develops, tests, and implements changes to improve service levels and reduce costs.
  • Assists in developing standardized reporting and analyzes discrepancies.

Job description

  • Serves as primary technical support for applications, such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Serves as expert on warehouse management system (WMS) logic and functionality
  • Ensures system integrity, including setup and control processes
  • Supports troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of existing software applications
  • Interfaces with Operations staff to review issues or changes. Provides regular communication to Operations and internal departments regarding operational issues, process flows, customer requirements, etc. Includes analysis, insight, and recommendations
  • Coordinates with other departments to resolve site technical issues impacting application use. Ensures issues are being addressed and resolved in a timely manner
  • Investigates and recommends new technologies and information systems appropriate for the company, where applicable
  • Work with system providers or other departments to obtain costs for system enhancements
  • Identifies application improvement opportunities. Designs, develops, tests, and implements changes or fixes for improving service levels, reducing costs, and providing operational enhancements
  • Assists in developing standardized and ad hoc site, management, and/or customer reporting. Analyzes discrepancies and implements changes or fixes
  • Conducts feasibility analyses on application solutions, processes, and equipment
  • Monitors system performance. Performs maintenance and backups as needed
  • Supports customer facing integration and implementation projects
  • Manages action items between Crane and systems vendors
  • Participates in sales calls and future opportunities in the Contract Logistics pipeline
  • Creates and maintains processes and procedures which are rolled out to local, regional, and global accounts as they relate to systems
  • Creates and maintains application support documentation
  • Continued learning of application capabilities, configurations, limitations, etc. Continued learning of industry trends, client requirements, other applications available to support operations, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to develop and document processes and procedures
  • Proficient in the use of analytical techniques such as statistical probability distribution, correlation, data sampling and relating sets of numbers
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborate with internal and external resources, respond to questions from senior management, and manage through conflict with a positive, flexible attitude and professionalism
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office, especially Excel

Physical Requirements

  • Talking, hearing, and using hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • Job may require regular and punctual attendance as well as presence on-site at the assigned work location

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field required
  • Minimum 2 years related experience
  • Minimum 1 year industry experience preferred

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

  • Professional certification may be required in some areas.
