Business Analyst – Retail Energy – Washington DC
Capco is a global management and technology consultancy dedicated to helping clients in finance and energy markets reduce costs and manage risk while driving growth. We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to work on high‑impact retail energy projects in the Washington DC area.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, facilitate, document, and participate in client meetings/workshops, conducting structured gathering, research, and analysis.
- Develop and evaluate procedures, controls, user requirements, and functional specifications to identify gaps between current and future states.
- Create business requirement documents (BRDs) and translate them into use cases and functional specifications for customization.
- Gather functional requirements, user stories, and document business, data, application, and technology architectures, requirements, and business rules.
- Design business process models, logical data models, and provide standards and guidance.
- Document and explain problems and work to resolve software defects while ensuring technical compatibility and end‑user satisfaction.
- Analyze, develop, and propose enhancements to current business processes, reports, and applications to optimize system effectiveness.
- Conduct customer interviews and produce meeting summaries.
- Conduct market/client research and industry analysis of requirements.
- Produce high‑quality verbal and written consulting deliverables (proposals, customer presentations, consulting reports) to effectively communicate project findings.
- Generate reusable intellectual capital in the form of consulting methodology, templates, blueprints, and business cases.
- Develop basic scripts and project plans.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of Business Analyst experience.
- Retail Energy experience, including CIS/Billing, EDI, Customer Care, Sales, and C&I/Mass Market products (required).
- Experience in wholesale, settlements, utilities, or trading is a plus.
- Experience working for a management consulting firm preferred.
- Solid skills in interviewing client executives, gathering and documenting business requirements, and process mapping.
- Strong presentation skills and extensive experience writing successful project proposals and executing related projects.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required; major in MIS, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Business, or Financial Engineering preferred.
- An advanced degree is desirable.

Pay Range
US Pay Range: $94,000 – $107,000 USD
