Job Summary

The BA/QA Analyst is a hybrid role within the University Lands IT Project Management Office (PMO), responsible for supporting both business analysis and quality assurance activities across development initiatives. This role partners closely with development teams and business stakeholders to define requirements, validate solutions, and ensure delivered products meet established quality standards. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in both Business Analysis and QA practices, excels at cross‑functional collaboration, and thrives in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis

• Gather and document requirements from business stakeholders and development teams
• Document current and future state processes and perform gap analysis
• Develop process flows, use cases, and support documentation
• Translate business needs into actionable functional and technical requirements (BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria)
• Facilitate workshops, backlog grooming, and stakeholder reviews
• Maintain traceability between requirements, development, and testing activities
• Assist with UAT planning, coordination, and validation

Quality Assurance

• Validate solutions against business requirements and acceptance criteria
• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts
• Perform functional, regression, and integration testing across applications and systems
• Conduct API and data validation testing where applicable
• Identify and track defects through resolution using standard tools
• Partner with developers to validate fixes and ensure quality standards are met
• Support release validation and production readiness activities
• Drive continuous improvement in testing processes and standards

PMO Support Activities

• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and review activities
• Support PMO initiatives, processes, and deliverables
• Contribute to project documentation, reporting, and status updates
• Ensure adherence to PMO standards, methodologies, and governance processesAssist with process improvement efforts across project delivery and QA practices
• Support cross‑team coordination between PMO, Development, and business units

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience)
• 5 years of experience in BA/QA roles
• Strong understanding of SDLC and project delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid)
• Experience writing requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
• Hands‑on experience with test planning, execution, and defect management
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent projects

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in oil & gas or land management industries
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Jira or similar platforms for backlog, requirements, defect, and test management
• Experience validating data across systems including reconciliation, transformation, and reporting outputs
• Working knowledge of SQL for data validation
• Knowledge of process improvement methodologies
• Prior experience working within a PMO or structured project environment
