Job summary

DP Professionals (DPP) is seeking a Business Analyst / Quality Assurance Analyst for a 12-month hybrid opportunity in Columbia, SC. The role combines BA and QA duties, gathering requirements, analyzing processes, and conducting comprehensive software testing in an Agile setting.

The ideal candidate has extensive BA and QA experience, strong collaboration with program staff, product owners, developers, and stakeholders, and a proven ability to translate operational needs into clear specifications

Qualifications

• 5+ years in business process analysis and stakeholder communication.
• 5+ years software QA/testing including test design, execution and defect tracking.
• 7+ years software analysis/testing and customized test procedures.
• 2+ years in business process design.
• Experience with the listed tools (TFS, VS, SQL Server, MS Project, Balsamiq, Office).
• Experience in government programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze and refine business and technical requirements, user stories, use cases and acceptance criteria.
• Map business processes and workflows; prepare functional specs, diagrams, reports and user documentation.
• Evaluate practices, system capabilities and controls; recommend improvements and resolve gaps.
• Translate policy and operational needs for technical teams and explain changes to stakeholders.
• Develop and execute test plans, test scripts and test cases for new or modified software.
• Validate solutions against requirements and quality standards; track and retest defects.
• Review logs, database records and performance data to verify behavior.
• Create automated tests and maintain test suites; document coverage and results.
• Coordinate with dev teams on defect resolution, release readiness and validation.

DPP is seeking a Business Analyst for an opportunity with our client in Columbia, SC.

Work Location:

Hybrid in Columbia, SC; onsite 3 days per week

Duration:

12 months with possibility of extension

Terms:

W2 Contract

Must be a SC resident or willing to relocate to SC prior to start

Position Summary:

• The Business Analyst / Quality Assurance Analyst - Advanced performs both BA and QA functions, gathering requirements from stakeholders, conducting requirements analysis, and completing comprehensive software testing within a collaborative Agile environment.
• This role works closely with program staff, product owners, developers, and project stakeholders to translate operational needs into clear specifications, validate system functionality, and document testing outcomes.
• Assigned systems and programs will be defined for each engagement.

Responsibilities:

Business Analysis

• Gather, analyze and refine business and technical requirements, user stories, use cases and acceptance criteria.
• Map business processes and workflows; prepare functional specifications, diagrams, reports and user documentation.
• Evaluate existing practices, system capabilities and controls; recommend improvements and resolve requirement gaps.
• Translate policy and operational needs for technical teams and explain technical changes to business stakeholders.

Quality Assurance / Software Testing

• Develop and execute test plans, test scripts and test cases for new or modified software, including regression and integration testing.
• Validate solutions against documented requirements and quality standards; identify, record, track and retest defects.
• Review application logs, database records and performance data to investigate errors and verify expected behavior.
• Create automated tests and maintain test suites when appropriate; document test coverage, outcomes and corrections.
• Coordinate with development teams on defect resolution, release readiness, user acceptance and post-implementation validation.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years of experience with business process analysis, requirements documentation, workflow development and stakeholder communication.
• 5+ years of experience with software QA/testing experience, including test design, execution, defect tracking, reporting and test-result documentation.
• 7+ years of experience of software analysis/testing and customized test procedure experience.
• 2+ years of experience in business process design.
• 5+ years of experience with each of the following tools: TFS, Visual Studio, SQL Server, MS Project, Balsamiq, Microsoft Office and legacy systems.
• Previous experience working within state, Federal, and/or local government.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, computer science or a related field, or equivalent extensive relevant experience.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience in public-sector Economic Services (including SNAP/TANF) or Early Child Care and Education programs.
• Agile development experience, test automation and knowledge of enterprise applications and integrations.

Additional Skills:

• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills; ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
