Cincinnati, OH (Cincinnati area) Hybrid
We’re looking for a curious, analytical, and detail-oriented Junior Business Analyst to join our Technology team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career—or someone currently working in business, marketing, operations, a customer-facing role, or a similar field who wants to transition into technology.
What we’re looking for is someone who naturally asks questions, enjoys figuring out how things work, communicates exceptionally well with people, and has the curiosity to keep digging until they understand the problem. This role will work directly with external customers, so strong communication skills, professionalism, and customer presence are especially important.
This position includes light travel to support customer meetings, discovery sessions, workshops, and other project activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer & business discovery: Meet with internal stakeholders and external customers to understand business needs, challenges, goals, and opportunities. Ask thoughtful questions to get beyond the initial request and understand the real business problem.
- Requirements & documentation: Gather, organize, and document business requirements, processes, workflows, decisions, and success criteria. Translate business needs into clear information that technical teams can use.
- User stories & process mapping: Help create user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and other project documentation that clearly communicates what needs to be delivered and why.
- Workshop design & facilitation: Working alongside other resources, help design and facilitate customer discovery sessions and workshops. Develop agendas, activities, questions, exercises, and supporting materials based on the goals and desired outcomes of the session.
- Workshop outcomes: Capture customer pain points, business processes, requirements, priorities, decisions, assumptions, open questions, action items, and next steps. Organize findings into clear documentation that can be used by both the customer and project team.
- Solution collaboration: Work with Business Analysts, Product Managers, Project Managers, developers, technical resources, and other team members to translate discovery outcomes into requirements, solution concepts, process improvements, and project recommendations.
- Testing & validation: Participate in testing new features and solutions to ensure requirements have been met and the solution works as expected. Help coordinate and document user acceptance testing when appropriate.
- Process improvement: Look for opportunities to improve, simplify, or automate existing business processes.
- AI & emerging technology: Explore how AI, automation, and emerging technologies could help solve customer and business problems. Stay curious about new capabilities and how they could be practically applied.
- Customer experience: Build strong relationships with customers and help create a positive, professional BERPL Tech experience throughout discovery and delivery.
- Project support & follow-through: Participate in project meetings, discovery sessions, solution reviews, and other project activities. Help ensure questions, decisions, requirements, and next steps don't fall through the cracks.
Must-Haves
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills with a natural curiosity about how businesses, processes, and technology work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong customer presence and interpersonal skills, with the confidence and professionalism to work directly with external customers.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage requirements, conversations, decisions, action items, and follow-ups.
- Comfortable asking thoughtful questions, respectfully challenging assumptions, and digging deeper to understand the underlying business need.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across different personalities, departments, customers, and areas of technical expertise.
- Comfortable learning new technologies, systems, tools, and business processes.
- Willingness to participate in and grow into facilitating customer meetings, discovery sessions, and workshops.
- Ability to travel occasionally for customer meetings, workshops, discovery sessions, and other project activities.
- A genuine desire to learn and grow within a technology-focused role.
Preferred
- Experience in business, marketing, operations, customer service, project coordination, technology, consulting, or another customer-facing or analytical role.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Interest in or hands-on experience with AI, automation, and emerging technologies.
- Exposure to business analysis activities such as requirements gathering, process mapping, data analysis, or user acceptance testing.
- Experience participating in or facilitating meetings, workshops, presentations, or customer discovery sessions.
- Familiarity with business technology such as CRM, ERP, project management, or other enterprise systems.
