Job summary

Brooksource in St. Louis, MO, is seeking a Business/Systems Analyst IV to join the Data Quality team in a hybrid setup. You will bridge business and technology, leveraging SQL-based analysis, Python, data lineage, and AI-driven improvements to deliver high-quality data products.

You will investigate data issues, ensure data integrity, and collaborate with data partners and application teams to enable faster, more reliable data delivery across the enterprise.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years SQL experience for analysis, ad hoc querying, data validation, and data quality investigations.
  • 5+ years in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Strong Python knowledge, including reviewing Python-based processes or scripts.
  • Experience with data lineage, mapping, and data movement across systems.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting abilities with problem-solving track record.
  • Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as liaison translating business needs into technical requirements and solutions.
  • Investigate data quality issues including duplicates, missing data, or incorrect values.
  • Perform SQL-based analysis, ad hoc querying, and data validation to support root-cause analysis.
  • Research data lineage and mappings across systems to understand data flow.
  • Conduct data quality testing and anomaly detection to prevent downstream impact.
  • Collaborate with Data Quality/Validation teams to ensure testing standards.
  • Create and manage tickets in JIRA with clear issue documentation.
  • Evaluate new features and AI-enabled initiatives for data impact and testing needs.
  • Review processes to identify gaps and drive efficiency and quality improvements.
  • Utilize data quality and observability tools (e.g., Monte Carlo) for testing and monitoring.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Fortune 100 Communications client is seeking a highly skilled Business/Systems Analyst IV to join its Data Quality team in a hybrid role based in St. Louis, MO. Reporting to the Data Quality organization, you will partner closely with business stakeholders, data partners, application teams, and technical teams to investigate data issues, ensure data integrity, and support the delivery of high-quality data products. This position is responsible for supporting and ensuring the quality, accuracy, and reliability of enterprise data by investigating issues identified by data partners, applications, and other data consumers.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical acumen with the ability to serve as a bridge between business and technology teams. You should be highly proficient in SQL-based analysis and data validation, possess a strong understanding of Python, and be comfortable researching data lineage, tracing data mappings, identifying anomalies, and troubleshooting complex data issues. This role is ideal for a technically minded Business/Systems Analyst who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and helping teams move faster through effective use of data, automation, and emerging technologies, including AI.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business needs into actionable technical requirements and solutions
  • Investigate and resolve data-related inquiries, including issues involving data drops, duplicate records, data correctness, completeness, and other data quality concerns
  • Perform SQL-based analysis, ad hoc querying, data validation, and data quality checks to identify discrepancies and support root cause analysis
  • Research data lineage and trace data mappings across systems, applications, and data sources to understand the flow and transformation of information
  • Conduct data quality testing and anomaly detection to identify potential issues before they impact downstream consumers
  • Collaborate with Data Quality and Data Validation teams to ensure thorough testing and adherence to established data standards and best practices
  • Participate in regular triage meetings to review tickets, production migration requests, data issues, and other incoming priorities
  • Create, update, and manage tickets in JIRA, maintaining clear documentation of issues, findings, and progress
  • Assist with the evaluation of new features, technical initiatives, and department-level work to identify potential data impacts and testing requirements
  • Review existing processes to ensure completeness, identify gaps, and recommend improvements that increase efficiency, quality, and consistency
  • Leverage data quality and observability tools, including platforms such as Monte Carlo, to support testing, monitoring, and issue detection
  • Apply critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills to work through ambiguous or complex challenges
  • Explore opportunities to leverage AI and other emerging technologies to improve team efficiency and accelerate delivery
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 5+ years of experience using SQL for analysis, ad hoc querying, data validation, and data quality investigations
  • 5+ years of experience working within a complex enterprise environment
  • Strong understanding of Python, including the ability to understand, review, and work with Python-based processes or scripts
  • Demonstrated experience performing data analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigations
  • Experience investigating data discrepancies involving duplicates, missing data, incorrect values, or other data quality concerns
  • Strong understanding of data lineage, data mapping, and the movement of data across systems and applications
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities with a proven track record of solving complex problems
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work through ambiguous challenges independently
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven approach to work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
