The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is seeking a Business Analyst to act as a key liaison between Business Services leadership, operational teams, and technology partners. The Business Analyst serves as a key liaison between Business Services leadership, operational teams, and technology partners. This role is responsible for analyzing business processes, gathering requirements, and recommending solutions that improve efficiency, enhance customer experience, and support strategic objectives. The Business Analyst will work closely with stakeholders to ensure that technology solutions align with organizational goals and deliver measurable value.
The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing business needs, translating requirements, and supporting process and technology improvements to improve operations, inform decision-making, and improv customer experience by partnering with Business Services stakeholders, technology teams, and leadership. The position has authority to assess workflows, recommend process improvements, develop reporting tools, document requirements, and support testing and implementation efforts. Work is performed with general supervision, with independent judgment expected on assigned tasks and escalation to leadership for complex, high-impact, or strategic decisions.
Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document, validate, and translate business requirements into functional specifications for technology solutions.
Assess existing business workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend or support process changes that improve efficiency, service delivery, and user experience.
Develop, maintain, and interpret dashboards, reports, and data analyses to support operational decision-making, performance tracking, and continuous improvement.
Understand how enterprise applications support business operations; evaluate system usage; support planning, testing, implementation, and optimization of new systems, upgrades, and technology projects; and assist with user stories, test cases, user acceptance testing, and deployment readiness activities.
Serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams; prepare documentation, training materials, and clear communications for end users and stakeholders.
Primarily sedentary work requiring extended periods of computer use, including typing, reading, analyzing data, and participating in meetings. May require occasional movement around office or campus locations for meetings, trainings, or operational support.
Work is performed primarily in a professional office environment with regular interaction with business, technical, and operational stakeholders.

The anticipated hiring range is $80,000-$85,000 annually, commensurate with experience and subject to internal equity, market review, job profile alignment, and applicable approvals.
This position will remain open until filled. This is a non-exempt level, benefited position. The University will perform background checks on all hires (if required) prior to employment.
