Job summary

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking dedicated Training and Safety Instructors to develop and deliver high-quality instruction for Metrobus Operators. You will reinforce safety standards and support learner growth in classroom and on-street settings, using modern training tools to prepare operators for safe, reliable service across WMATA.

The role involves coordinating CDL training, assessing training needs, and mentoring staff while joining a team that values

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent certificate.
• Five years of progressive bus operations experience with safe record.
• Valid driver’s license and CDL with passenger endorsements.
• Driving record no more than two points and no recent suspensions.
• Preferred: degree in Training, Instructional Design or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assesses training needs via surveys/interviews and coordinates with supervisors.
• Attends meetings to obtain information for training programs.
• Develops and delivers classroom and in-vehicle operator training.
• Coordinates CDL training and testing; requalifies operators as needed.
• Instructs on new routes and equipment changes; evaluates progress.
