Job summary

WMATA, known as Metro, seeks a Training and Safety Instructor to deliver high-quality instruction and reinforce safety standards for future Metrobus operators. This role involves classroom and on-street training, curriculum development, and assessment of trainee progress to ensure safety and reliability across WMATA’s bus operations.

The ideal candidate has five years of bus operations experience and a background in developing and delivering operator training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years of progressively responsible bus operations experience with safe vehicle operation.
• Experience developing and presenting bus operator training or as an instructor in related fields preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and evaluates bus operators and student operators in classroom and on-street environments.
• Coordinates and conducts CDL training and testing; requalifies operators as needed.
• Develops training courses and lesson plans for classroom and vehicle training.
• Assesses training needs and communicates with supervisors about training status and requirements.
• Monitors operator performance and provides coaching and feedback to ensure compliance with safety standards.
