Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is seeking dedicated Training and Safety Instructors who are passionate about teaching and developing the next generation of Metrobus Operators. You will deliver high-quality instruction, reinforce safety standards, and support growth of every learner in your classroom.

You will leverage modern training tools and technology to create an engaging learning environment and ensure operators deliver safe, reliable service across WMATA's region.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering classroom and on-vehicle training in transportation or similar field.
• Strong communication, judgment, and ability to learn and apply new information.
• Ability to develop lesson plans and assess trainee progress.

Responsibilities

• Assess training needs and coordinate with supervisors.
• Prepare courses, lesson plans, and in-class instructions.
• Conduct technical and compliance training, including CDL sessions.
• Evaluate trainee performance and post grades in the learning system.
• Train operators on new routes, equipment, and fare structures.
• Monitor safety protocols and coach operators after incidents.
