Job summary

SEPTA, a major transportation provider in the Philadelphia region, seeks a Schedule Maker for Bus & Metro (4007) to prepare, analyze and revise transit schedules. You will use Trapeze to adjust running times and headways, ensuring compliance with union rules and service goals.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree and scheduling experience, strong analytical and Excel skills, and the ability to work with data from APC and traffic surveys.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and one year of scheduling, service planning, or transportation experience required.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
• Excellent analytical and arithmetic skills required.
• Proficiency in map reading required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.
• Microsoft Excel Intermediate Test required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing schedule changes and analyze Traffic Surveys and APC data.
• Compare data from existing and proposed schedules to record changes.
• Compute vehicle hours, trips, and miles; prepare statistical reports.
• Use Trapeze scheduling software to revise time points, routing, and running times.
• Prepare revised running times based on traffic surveys and APC data.
• Determine headway specifications from ridership data and adjust as needed.
• Develop schedules per Authority and Union work rules.
• Interview operations personnel and review requests; recommend solutions.
