Job summary

Valley Transit is seeking a Bus Mechanic I in the Washington DC area to perform inspections, servicing and repairs on transit vehicles. This role reports to the Lead Mechanic and Maintenance Manager and advances in complexity with experience.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years in transit vehicle maintenance, a Class B CDL with passenger and airbrake endorsements, and ASE certifications. Benefits include paid premiums, retirement options, and holidays; apply by mail or email

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of mechanical experience in transit, medium/heavy duty trucks or related trade.
  • Must possess or be willing to acquire within 12 months a Class B CDL with passenger and airbrake endorsements.
  • Freon handler certification per 40 CFR Part 82 Subpart F under section 608 of the Clean Air Act.
  • First Aid/CPR certificate and forklift operator certificate required or preferred.
  • ASE Certifications in Automobile/Medium-Heavy Trucks, School Bus and/or Transit Bus preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vehicle equipment and facility inspections, servicing, repairs, and related activities with emphasis on safety and efficiency.
  • Work under the supervision of Lead Mechanic and Maintenance Manager; duties increase with experience and complexity.
