WMATA is offering a Maintenance Trainee, Bus Maintenance position as part of the Technical Skills Program (TSP). The two-year apprenticeship combines classroom and on-the-job training to prepare you for a General Transit Bus Garage Mechanic C role.

You will work under supervision, aim to obtain ASE certification, and learn to inspect, diagnose, and repair WMATA buses with safety as a priority. This entry path includes benefits and potential progression after graduation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems and equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and interpret manuals and schematics.
• Willingness to complete formal training and on-the-job training.
• Ability to work safely and follow procedures.

Responsabilités

• Attends formal training classes and passes exams with 75%+.
• Gains skills in maintenance, inspection, repair and calibration of WMATA buses.
• Inspects, diagnoses and repairs bus malfunctions under supervision.
• Completes documentation and training records.
• Assists in emergencies by safeguarding WMATA equipment.
• Maintains safety culture and adheres to policy.
