Bus Field Service Technician — Travel, Diagnostics & Repairs

Job summary

GILLIG is seeking a Field Service Representative to travel to customer sites in the Greater Memphis, TN area and potentially across the United States to perform Post Delivery Inspections on new buses and support service campaigns.

You will document findings, coordinate with the Regional Manager for corrective actions, and work closely with customers to diagnose and resolve issues on transit buses. A strong mechanical/electrical skill set and a customer-first mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Read blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Ability to mentor and train.
• Proven ability to use computer programs to diagnose bus systems.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customers’ locations within Greater Memphis, TN area and possibly nationwide.
• Inspect new buses after delivery and repair or adjust issues as necessary.
• Investigate root causes and develop resolution plans for in-service buses.
• Diagnose electrical and/or mechanical defects and perform repairs as needed.
• Troubleshoot supplier issues and facilitate resolutions.
• Document failure analyses with field reports and photos.
• Serve as liaison between customer and factory for issue resolution.
• Order and ship replacement parts as needed to place bus in service.
• Assist with warranty or replacement parts orders.
