Job summary

Casa Grande Elementary School District Transportation in Casa Grande, AZ is seeking a Bus Driver Trainee to learn routes, operate school buses and safeguard students during loading and travel, including excursions.

Job Description

The job of Bus Driver Trainee is done for the purpose of learning to transport students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from buses.

• Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior


• Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations; assists students and other passengers


• Attends meetings, trainings, etc.


• Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior; drives school bus(es)


• Fuels assigned vehicle, e.g., oil, water, fuel, etc.


• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.


• Prepares documents and reports, e.g., field trip reports, incident reports, inspections records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc.


• Reports observations and/or incidents, e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.


• Responds to inquires, e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.


• Supervises students and other passengers during transit; assists other personnel as may be required.

Qualifications: Experience desired.

Requirements: Alcohol and Drug Test; Pre-placement Physical Exam;Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance;Random Drug Testing;Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $15.80 Per Hour
