Job Description

Purpose:

• Transport special needs students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions
• Ensure vehicle is in safe operating condition
• Ensure safety of students during transport, loading and unloading

Responsibilities:

• Advise students and other passengers of appropriate behavior
• Assess incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations
• Assist Bus Assistant, students and other passengers
• Attend meetings, trainings, etc.
• Clean assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior
• Conduct emergency evacuation drills
• Drive school bus/s
• Fuel assigned vehicle (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.)
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.)
• Prepare documents and reports (field trip reports, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, MIPS forms, etc.)
• Report observations and/or incidents (discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, health, etc.)
• Respond to inquiries (students, parents, other school personnel, etc.)
• Supervise students and other passengers during transit
• Assist other personnel as required

Full time with benefits – 25–40 hours per week. Pay starts at $15.25 per hour depending on experience; requires a certificate. The district trains new bus drivers.

Qualifications: Alcohol and drug test, pre-placement physical exam, criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance, random drug testing.

This is a 10‑month school year position only.
