Job summary

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UT SanAntonio) is looking for a part-time Bus Driver to operate shuttle buses and other vehicles on campus. You will serve students, employees, and visitors with a focus on safety and reliability.

Shifts are up to 19 hours per week with varied start times. A valid CDL with passenger endorsement and DOT medical certification are required or obtainable before employment. Background check and MVR review apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Vocational Training or Apprenticeship completed.
• Valid Texas CDL Class B with passenger endorsements required or able to obtain.
• DOT Medical Certification or ability to obtain before employment.
• Demonstrated reliability and accountability in past roles, including driving a commercial vehicle with passengers.

Responsibilities

• Operate University shuttle buses and other vehicles on assigned routes.
• Provide safe operation and excellent customer service to passengers.
• Assist students, employees, and visitors as needed.
• Inspect vehicles and report any maintenance needs.
• Maintain mileage reports and perform basic vehicle cleaning.

Salary Range

$17.74 an hour, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary

The Driver demonstrates skill in operating University shuttlebuses and other vehicles.

Core Responsibilities

1. Manages safe operation of University vehicles and excellentcustomer service to passengers.
2. Drives and operates University shuttle buses and other vehiclesover assigned routes.
3. Provides service to students, employees, and visitors.
4. Checks the condition of vehicles and reports needed adjustmentsor repairs.
5. Maintains mileage reports.
6. Performs minor maintenance and cleaning of vehicles.
7. Provides special event transportation support as needed.
8. Promotes safety and environmental protection by immediatelyreporting unsafe situations, spills, and accidents; followingUniversity safety plans/procedures/protocols; and participating inappropriate safety training.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Vocational Training or Apprenticeship in arelated field.
• Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B withpassenger endorsements.
• Current DOT Medical Certification or ability to obtain beforeemployment.
• Three (3) years of demonstrated ability to fulfillresponsibilities, reliably meet commitments and expectations, anddemonstrate dependability and accountability through employment,volunteer activities, or community involvement, to include:
  • One (1) year of experience driving a commercial vehicle withpassengers
• This position may require the ability to maintain the securityand integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per TexasEO-GA-48.

Working Conditions

• Conditions commonly associated with operating passengervehicles. Exposure to outside weather conditions. Occasionalevening and/or weekend assignments may be required.

Physical Demands

This position will work primarily on campus.Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
