Job Summary

  • Shuttle Bus Driver.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must pass background check and drug screen.
Responsibilities
Vehicle Operator, I
  • Operate a shuttle bus and smaller passenger type vehicles.
  • Provide transit service to the campus community along fixed routes as well as scheduled ADA service.
  • Load and secure wheelchair passengers using the wheelchair lifts and tie‑downs supplied in all buses.
  • Inspect equipment daily for damage, equipment failures, and safety items to ensure safe use of the equipment while performing assigned duties.
  • Fill out, in writing, the Daily Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
  • All routes are extremely time‑sensitive; therefore, all drivers must be punctual, report to work on time, and drive routes as scheduled.
  • All drivers are expected to arrive in uniform no less than 15 minutes prior to scheduled shift.
  • Follow shut‑down procedures, clean out buses, and empty garbage.
  • Driver needs to be safe, courteous, and professional.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time as well as stand for periods of time.
  • May instruct others of a lesser classification in methods of operating heavy vehicles and equipment as instructed by the crew leader.
  • Perform clean‑up service as necessary to provide a pleasant environment for the University community.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience.
Preferences
  • Previous bus driving experience highly preferred.
  • Excellent familiarity with connecting UTA and TRAX routes.
