Summary

The School Bus Driver provides clean, safe and reliable transportation and ensures that students enjoy the full advantage of school programs and activities.

Position Responsibilities
  • Transport students to and from school and school-related activities in a safe manner.
  • Appropriately operate all vehicles and equipment in fleet.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the school and community.
  • Handle bus and students in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to relate well to students.
  • Inspect bus prior to and after each route or activity trip.
  • Maintain bus in clean condition and inform the school of any routine maintenance or repairs required.
  • Adhere to Archdiocese health and safety policies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Adhere to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and take precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.
  • Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent experience.
License and Credentials
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and school bus endorsements
  • Obtain school bus driver certificate
  • Ability to pass DOT drug and alcohol test
  • Ability to pass annual physical
  • Acceptable driving record: as required by the Texas Department of Public Safety
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Must pass background check
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Knowledge of student discipline procedure and manage student behavior
  • Ability to operate school bus
Minimum Knowledge and Skills
  • Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position
  • Must be very customer service oriented.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
  • Must have good written and verbal skills;
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Travel Requirements

Travel requirements for the position includes 100% local and 20% overnight.
