Job summary

OSU-Stillwater invites applications for a leadership role in campus transit operations. The successful candidate will oversee transit, paratransit and motor coach services, mentoring drivers and ensuring safety, customer service and ADA compliance.

Operate campus and city routes, oversee pre-trip inspections, and coordinate daily operations with supervision. Strong leadership and experience as a bus driver or similar vehicle operator are required, with a Class B license including P and air brake

Qualifications

• High School/GED required; degree conferred by start date.
• Three years of experience as a bus driver or comparable vehicle.
• Must have and retain a Class B Commercial license with P endorsement and air brake endorsement.

Responsibilities

About this Position

Provide leadership and operational support for transit, paratransit, and motor coach services, ensuring safe, efficient transportation of students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Serve as a senior operator and resource for drivers, assisting with training, mentoring, and promoting compliance with safety, customer service, and ADA standards. Operate vehicles on campus, city streets, and state highways while supporting fixed-route, demand-response, and special event transportation services. Conduct and oversee pre-trip safety inspections, maintain operational records, prepare daily statistical reports, and communicate service issues to supervisors. Assist with coordinating daily operations, resolving service concerns, and ensuring adherence to departmental policies and procedures. Open and prepare daily transit operations before scheduled service begins which includes ensuring vehicle, route, equipment, and operator readiness. Perform additional duties as assigned. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and capable of stooping, bending, and kneeling to secure wheelchairs in compliance with ADA requirements.
