Job summary

Coweta Public Schools is seeking a Bus Driver to transport students on a daily route. The role requires a valid Oklahoma CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement, a State Bus Driving certificate, CPR and First Aid, and a clean driving record with periodic drug testing.

Strong preference for experience with children and adherence to school policies. Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, operating the bus, ensuring student counts, maintaining bus cleanliness, and following all safety

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Oklahoma CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement is required.
• State Department of Education Bus Driving certificate is required.
• CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
• Good driving record with periodic drug testing and annual physical.
• Experience working with children is required.
• Alternative qualifications may be approved by the Board of Education and Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily pre-trip inspection of vehicle.
• Report maintenance problems to supervisor.
• Display bus route signs as needed.
• Report vehicle damages or vandalism to supervisor.
• Complete student count as scheduled.
• Drive the assigned bus route.
• Check bus passes.
• Follow 15-step safety procedures during driving, loading, unloading, and parking.
• Operate the two-way radio unit.
• Maintain an orderly bus following school policies.
• Ensure all students exit the bus after shifts or trips and sweep out vehicle.

JOB TITLE: BUS DRIVER

A high school diploma or GED. Oklahoma CDL class B with Passenger Endorsement. Must have a State Department of Education Bus Driving certificate. CPR certification and First Aide certification is required. Job requires good driving record, periodic drug testing and annual physical. Job requires experience working with children. The Board of Education and the Superintendent may approve appropriate alternatives to the listed qualifications.

WORKING HOURS: 1.5+ hours per day; contracted for 1.5 hours per day.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform daily pre-trip inspection of vehicle.
• Report any suspected maintenance problems to supervisor.
• Display proper bus route signs as needed.
• Report all vehicle damages or vandalism to supervisor.
• Complete student count as scheduled.
• Drive the assigned bus route.
• Check bus passes.
• Utilize all 15-step safety procedures in driving, loading, unloading and parking the assigned vehicle.
• Understand and operate the vehicles two-way radio unit.
• Maintain an orderly bus. Follow appropriate school policies and procedures.
• After each shift or trips assigned verify that all students have exited the bus.
• After each shift or trip assigned sweep out vehicle and empty trash container.
• Properly park vehicle in assigned slot.
• Replace key on keyboard.
• Be familiar with Driver manual and State School Bus Driver manual.
