Job summary

Refuah Health Center Inc. is hiring a professional bus driver to transport patients and staff to and from our health centers across Rockland and Sullivan Counties. You will follow defined routes, perform safety inspections, and ensure timely arrivals while maintaining a courteous, professional demeanor.

The role requires a NYS CDL Class B, at least two years of bus operation experience, and strong customer service skills. Inclement weather is common; flexibility with schedules is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience as a bus operator.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients and employees according to routes and schedules.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the bus.
• Open/close doors and ensure passenger safety while the bus is in motion.
• Maintain safe driving practices and report accidents or delays to the Transportation Manager.
• Keep the vehicle clean and perform routine maintenance as needed.
• Comply with health center policies and safety regulations.

Job Summary:The bus driver is responsible for transporting patients to and from the health center according to specified routes, assigned stops and time schedules. Performs function in a courteous and professional manner. Adheres to bus safety regulations and safety rules when loading and unloading passengers.Why Refuah?Join a collegial team of coworkers.Five modern state of the art facilities.Flexible schedules for maximum work-life balance.Duties and Responsibilities:Always exercises greatest care in transporting of patients and employees.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect patients, employees, equipment and property.Opens and closes the entrance door and keeps it securely closed while bus is in motion.The bus operates at a safe speed not to exceed the speed limit per hour over the established route.Make stops in the right-hand lane when loading or discharging patients at designated bus stops, where buses can be clearly seen for a safe distance from both directions.Require patients who must cross the road to walk to a point 10 feet or more in front of the bus, stop before reaching a position in line with the left side of bus, and await signal from bus driver to start to cross the road.Stops bus at railway grade crossings- opens entrance door of bus and driver’s window and determines when it is safe for vehicle to cross railroad tracks.Operates the bus in accordance with route schedule and designated stops.Performs daily pre- and post-trip inspection of the entire interior and exterior of the bus.Reports on all accidents, delays and driver absences to Transportation Manager.Maintains and performs regular upkeep of the vehicle to include filling fuel tank, checking and adding oil, cleaning the interior and exterior of vehicle and other required maintenance.Complies with applicable policies and procedures and supports the Compliance Program.Contributes to organizational operations by performing other duties as may be required.Meets DMV 19A requirementsMinimum of two years’ experience as a bus operator.Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.Complies with and supports health center regulations and policies.Able to drive in inclement weather such as light snow and/or rain.Clean Driving RecordAble to sit for long periods of time.Valid NYS Commercial Driver License (Minimum Class B)Going the Extra Mile for Patient Care!Refuah Health is a federally qualified health center offering comprehensive care in Rockland and Sullivan Counties.
